//About Joshua
I was born and mostly raised in Colorado and moved to LA 11 years ago to pursue film directing. I've been married to an amazing, supportive wife for almost 14 years and we have three kids--Judah (8), Sylas (5) and Sydney (3).
//Job History
I've been working in the film industry for about 11 years and have been art directing commercials while pursuing acting and directing. I directed several award winning short films, including "Liv" and "The Butterfly Circus" which won the 2009 Doorpost Film Project. I am also an actor and was cast as a lead in the feature film "To Save a Life" which opens in theaters January 22, 2010.
//Education Background
After two years of college, I jumped ship and started working in the film industry.

I finished co-writing/directing my second short film last year called "Stained" which went on to win a number of awards and screened at film festivals around the country including the Hollywood Intl. Film Festival and the LA Intl. Short Film Festival. It also became the first film shot on the Red One Digital Camera ever to win a "Best Film" award at a festival (168 Hour Film Festival 2008). Recently we won the 2009 Doorpost Film Project's grand prize with "The Butterfly Circus" and are currently developing it into a feature film.
//Favorite Movies
Hard to answer...Shawshank Redemption, Slumdog Millionaire, City of God, Oh Brother Where Art Thou, Forrest Gump, Schindler's List, love the LOTRs films (wanted to make them), Indiana Jones-Raiders and the Matrix...
//Joshua's Favorite Things About Filmmaking
What I like most about filmmaking is the opportunity to combine so many art forms--story, images, light, drama, sound and music. Then to see the power it has when all these different forms of expression are brought together in the massive venue of a movie theater--little compares.
//Joshua's Camera of Choice
I use the Red One Digital Camera because I haven't had the opportunity to use film. It makes a beautiful image but I still love the feel of film.
//Joshua's Editing Software of Choice
Final Cut Pro up to this point, but it doesn't matter to me since I don't cut my own stuff.
//Joshua Became a Filmmaker Because
A book called This Present Darkness and the idea of it as a feature film.
//General Interests
I don't have a lot of spare time but when I do I go fishing, camping or just try and get outdoors. I love time with my family and friends and weekends away with the wife. Also love going out to restaurants, the local winery, art museums, seeing the world.

Johny Cook // Hey, I am no film maker or anything like that just a photographer but I was shown this film and I think it was absolutly brilliant!(The Butterfly Circus) In my opinion I like an image that gives me some sense of emotion wether its laughter saddness etc or just makes me think! And your movie certainly makes you think! And smile! Well Done!

Nathan // Loved Butterfly Circus. The volume was mixed a little low in some points (eg. Magnus' conversation in the sideshow) but still worked fine. And Nick Vujicic rocks!
