//About Kirk
I left a corporate marketing job in 2007 to focus on the entertainment industry. It was a leap in faith, but one that has been rewarded with steady work in film and television roles as an actor and interest from production companies for my scripts.
I've been happily married for over fourteen years to Joni Bovill. We live in the Los Angeles area. We're known for our brand of Gospel music and have released two critically acclaimed CDs under our own indie label, Elmo Records.

//Kirk Became a Writer Because
It's the best creative outlet for me.
//Kirk Became an Actor Because
I love the creative process. I thrive in a chaotic environment and that's what film acting is all about. A thousand things going on at once, but once the director yells "action", the focus has to be such that everything else around ceases to exist except for the players in the scene.

I AM...
A Doorpost Member Since : August 2009
A FILMMAKER

A WRITER
I started writing songs at the age of 10. I wrote my first three act play at the age of 14. I was first published in grad school in the early 80s. So, I've been writing for a long time.

AN ACTOR
2005, I went full-time towards the end of 2007. First film booked was a feature shot in Croatia. The director was based out of London. Saw my audition on tape, flew over to LA to meet me the following week and three weeks later, I was in Europe filming White Lightnin' which premiered this year at Sundance and was screened at the Berlin Film Festival as well.

I read through the script and called my wife into the room and told her that this was going to be special. It shows humanity at its best, that there's a purpose in everyone's life.

Kevin F // Thanks for the connection. The Butterfly Circus is just fantastic. Everyone was strong, which made it work so well. Thank you for the most excellent performance.

Imagineering // Thanks for the connection. just wondering, how long did it take in make-up to add all those tatoos? Excellent performance, by the way, in a part that reveals the darker human side of a side-show.

It was a two to three hour process to get all the tats applied. This was the last shot of a very long day. It was around 9am when we shot this. Nick was run down, so I ended up filming my half to the camera and then Nick came back to do his reaction shots.

JENN GOTZON // Kirk, really great job in Butterfly Circus. Your grit and edge added such texture to setting up the journey for Nick's character. AWESOME WORK!!!
