//About Chuck
Inspired by Steven Spielberg's "Jaws," Chuck filmed 8mm and 16mm shorts until he was 21 years old. He eventually moved on to videotape, which was far less expensive than film. In 1988, he produced and co-starred in "All That Jaws," a 40-minute spoof which aired locally in Florida. Due to the program's regional success, he was soon offered the executive producer position on a fictional series entitled "Your Wildest Dreams: First Features From Young Filmmakers" a 30-minute televison series (similar to the HBO show "Project Greenlight."). Chuck also served as Writer/Director on three of the episodes, "The Pen Is Mightier Than The Sword," "On The Air," and "The Trouble With Shakespeare."

In 1991, he co-directed a feature length spoof entitled "Batguy", (Co-directed with doorpost finalist Erik Hollander) which toured with that year's Sci-Fi conventions. The next year, he produced and directed a 15-minute fictional short film to promote Paramount Pictures' "Pet Cemetary II."

He also worked on studio films for Fries Entertainment, Nederlander Television & Film Productions and Universal Television on such films as "Super Carrier," "Intimate Strangers," and "Road Raiders."

He also became known for his writing and directing for the corporate community for such companies as Johnson & Johnson.

In 2002, he served as Director of Photography on the Connecticut based comedy "The Root of All Evil." This feature length film about killer great white pine trees starred Ron Palillo (Horshack of "Welcome Back Kotter" fame) and Brandi Lynn Coppock (Former Playboy model).

In March 2009 he served as cinematographer on Manalive, a $100K feature.

Chuck continues to work in the film/video production field and is constantly busy with new projects and clients.

//Chuck's Favorite Things About Filmmaking
I love working w/ actors & lighting a scene, then watching my vision play out on the monitor or through the viewfinder. Dolly & crane shots are what gives the low budget film a better production value look. Mis En Scene/ MOVE THE CAMERA! My biggest beef with filmmakers today is bouncing a light off the wall or ceiling & the "look" is flat & boring. Also, to many times filmmakers shoot without any DEPTH with the shots. Though this is unavoidable in some locations, my motto is to TAKE THE TIME TO LIGHT WELL (Don't be afraid of shadows). Also, FRAME THE ACTION so that there is something other than a boring wall behind the actors.

//Chuck's Editing Software of Choice
Final Cut Pro (Though I first learned on Media 100 & have also edited with Matrox Speedrazor)
//Chuck Became a Filmmaker Because
Jaws. It opened my eyes to what true filmmaking can do for an audience & garnered a life long love of the film which I've seen more than 400 times.
//General Interests
I like animals better than most people. I have 2 cats & I love them like they were human children. I call them my kids. Writing, Lighting, DP'ing, Jaws, WWII History, Vintage war birds/aircraft & Women w/ dark hair & eyes 8-p
//Chuck Became a Writer Because
Again, Jaws. In reading the complicated way in which the script was written during principal photography w/ Spielberg, Scheider, Shaw, Dreyfuss & screenwriter Carl Gottlieb discussing scenes at dinner (At the infamous Log Cabin Spielberg lived in for 7 months during production that Erik Hollander, other Jaws friends & I stayed in in the summer of 2006 right before it was torn down. And, yes, my room was Spielberg's room) & writing them a few days before they were shot. This process intrigued me enough to get me writing. But, making the film is the funnest part for me, and writing just a very important part of that process.

The first script I've written was when I was 14. I've written numerous short & feature scripts, some of which have been made into low budget independent films. I am currently doing research on 1 screenplay & co-writing another with a filmmaker friend that lives/works in L.A.
