//About Mark
Mark Atteberry has been active in the Entertainment Industry practically since birth. He made his stage debut at the age of six in the San Francisco Bay Area. Shortly after he starred in the world premiere of the award winning play, "The Bicentennial."

Mark had his first taste of success as a musician. As a teenager he played trombone, tuba and keyboards with various groups throughout Northern California. By his early twenties he was making his living as a studio musician on both coasts. Some of the groups Mark has played with include Count Basie, Rich Matteson, Herb Albert, The Pacific Symphony, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Susanna Hoffs, Nancy Boy and many more.

In his late 20's, Mark made the switch to acting and never looked back. Since then he has acted in countless commercials, TV shows and feature films. His film work ranges from indies like "The Real Thing” starring Jeremy Piven to big budget features like "The Hulk" directed by Ang Lee. As a television actor Mark recently starred in the CBS pilot, "The Eastmans" starring Donald Sutherland and Jacqueline Bisset. He can also be seen this year on several hit shows including "24," "Nip/Tuck," "The Closer" and "Dexter." In 2008 Mark received his first "Best Actor" nomination at the 168 Film Festival in Los Angeles for his work in the award winning "Stained."

In his spare time Mark has earned a nice little reputation for himself as an award winning photographer. He specializes in advertising and fine art. Mark has shot some of the biggest names in the business and his clients include NBC, CBS, A&E, CAA, ICM, WME, Venice Magazine and Big Lots! He was recently chosen as one of the "Three Best Photographers in Los Angeles" by CSA and one of the "Top 10 Photographers" by BackStage West.

Mark has lectured all across North America on the topic of "How to Succeed in the Entertainment Industry" and authored or co-authored several books on the subject including "The Working Actor's Guide," a top selling reference book at major bookstores for over sixteen years, "The Parent's Guide" and "The Stunt Guide."

Though Mark has had notable success in the Entertainment Industry, what he secretly wants to do is open a little gourmet diner in the Northern California Wine Country... but don't we all.
//Job History
I do two things noticeably well, acting and photography... I make a gallant effort at everything else. For a few specifics and more details, see my painfully long bio above in the "About Me" box.
//Education Background
Most of my early schooling was in Northern California. I went to Analy High School in Sebastopol, California. Then I went to college at Santa Rosa Junior College, Biola University and USC. I have three degrees (Chemistry, Music and Psychology, all of which serve me little purpose now... although I wouldn't give up one second of my time in school.

//Mark's Favorite Things About Filmmaking
In this order, the art of acting, the art of directing and the art of writing. And I am a personal fan of the art of sound design and cinematography. That about covers it.

//Mark Became a Filmmaker Because
The films. Duh.
//General Interests
Exploring God and the multitude of great things He has given us in this life, spending time with my gorgeous wife and my family and friends, making music, examining art, cooking, carpentry and risk taking.
//Mark Became an Actor Because
Since my earliest years I had the need to get up in front of people and tell stories. I felt the need to live a full life in front of others in hope that it would inspire them to lead full lives. I love to entertain and I believe it is a gift not to be wasted. I wear my emotions and my life experiences just under my skin and really, where else would someone like that fit? In plumbing, architecture, nursing? I am constantly drawn to what makes each unique individual tick and I am drawn to explore that on a stage. Acting satisfies me.

red // Thank you Mark. I appreciate the kind words on SHMILU. I don't see Doorpost much as a competition but more as a project for filmmakers. I really appreciate them giving me the opportunity to be part of this. I'll say it right here, Butterfly Circus is going to win first place. Hands down. What an incredible film.
